An apology letter to Rimmel

Dearest Rimmel,

I've done something terrible.

I feel I need to start my letter by explaining that I LOVE EYELINER. I don't go anywhere without it. When I'm at the gym, in the swimming pool, even if I'm just popping to the shop for a selection of juices after a night out, I'm wearing eyeliner.
I just don't feel like me without it!

It has always been my favourite make up item and for as long as I can remember, I have used Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Liner. As your website describes: Intense colour, ultimate control, draw the lines you want. Too true; it's flawless. So smooth and easy to apply but still gives a bold, intense effect. I cannot realistically explain just how much I love this product!

This brings me to the sad day for which I would like to apologise for. I was no longer at university and only working part time hours so I hope you can understand that I had very little money. Beauty products are an expensive necessity but I needed to find a way to cut costs. It just so happened that Max Factor had a 3 for 2 sale on. I am a big fan of Max Factor and I absolutely swear by their Facefinity range; I could not live without their 3 in 1 foundation or the compact powder.

On this particular occasion, I needed to buy foundation, mascara and eyeliner all at the same time. Unfortunately, it was cheaper for me to buy all three products from the Max Factor range and sacrifice my favourite Rimmel eyeliner. I can honestly say I will never make the same mistake again!

I spent a while testing out all my options as I am very picky when it comes to eyeliner and I had never had to choose a different one before! It can't have a soft tip and it needs to be easy to apply whilst still allowing you great precision. I eventually chose the Colour Xpert liner in Deep Black (of course).

How bad could it be, right? Well....

Okay, maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that I am constantly comparing it to Rimmel's amazing Exaggerate liner. I do genuinely find that Max Factor's liner is too watery though and it doesn't cover my eyeshadow properly. After application, the silver colour comes through the black. It's also not very easy to apply and doesn't live up to my perfectionist standards. To an untrained eye it probably doesn't look any different. But I can tell. It just is not for me.

Rimmel, I'm so very sorry that I had to choose money over quality. I have now gone about 2 months without your soft, black lines caressing my eyes and it has been too hard! Pay day on Friday and I know what the first thing to come off my card will be... I hope you can forgive me! However, if you ever stop making this eyeliner of dreams, we might be having problems.

Yours,
a very apologetic and forever loyal customer.
