Bye Bye, Bedroom!

I have decided it's time to give my room a makeover. As you can see from the pictures, it's not quite working at the moment, I'm mainly living out of bags. I love nothing more than to have a project, and I've decided that this will be my next one. It's not going to be a quick process, I'm lacking certain funds and I have to wait for the windows to be sorted before I can start (no point having a freshly decorated room ruined by workmen) but I'm looking forward to it all the same.

First things first, I need to decide how I want the room to look. I still like the red colour but the red, black, white combo is just a bit too teenage for my liking now. I'd like to put carpet in, the laminate is cold, and a bit dated. For once in my adult life, I'd like a room that contains MATCHING furniture, so I will be getting rid of my wardrobe and bookshelf. I still like the style of the chest of drawers, so I think I'll get all DIY on it and paint it to match my new room. I started the sanding on it about 10 years ago so half my work is already done!

Over the next few weeks I'll be posting different ideas I have for the style and design of the room. I'll include products that will help you achieve the look if you like it too. After I finally choose a definite way to go, I'll be posting updates of how things are coming along, and explaining how I have gone about it (for example how I turn an old chest of drawers around).

I've never done any of this before but I feel like as a 24 year old I should have these life skills. I really resent paying people to do things that I can probably do myself. So join me on my learning curve, and perhaps you will learn something too! Or at the very least be entertained by the mistakes I am bound to make...
